On 5. September 2022, the first annual meeting was held in Jena. We welcomed several PIs and Post Docs from ANU who could finally meet our first cohort of doctoral students and Post Docs in person. The annual meeting was co-located to the International Conference on Quantum, Nonlinear and Nanophotonics (ICQNN) which was hosted from 5. to 9. September in Jena by the Collaborative Research Centre (CRC) NOA.

During our annunal meeting our doctoral candidates and PostDocs introduced themselves and their projects and partly already presented first results. The presentations part was run in hybrid mode to allow all members at ANU Canberra to follow and present as well. The remaining on-site program contained guided lab tours at the Abbe Center of Photonics and offered occasions for project meetings and scientific discussions.

In the remaining week our members participated in the ICNN program with its many international guests, where they also presented talks and posters to the broad audience. A true highlight for the scientific community was the conference dinner in the Botanical Garden as well as the industry tour at Zeiss on the last day. Industry talks were offered by Vistec Electron Beam GmbH & Sony.
