After the start of the IRTG and the successful recruitment of the first doctoral students the IRTG invited for a Kick-off meeting from 24. to 25. February 2022 to introduce the new talents to the PIs and senior scientists of the program.

Being in the nature of a program whose members work on two continents the research group met online and got to know the research plans and backgrounds of the newest IRTG members. The meeting was opened by welcoming words of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Australian National University, Prof. Keith Nugent, and the Vice-President of Friedrich Schiller University, Prof. Georg Pohnert.

During the meeting, the group also accommodated the virtual office space which was created to offer a permanent meeting platform for scientific and social exchange.

Along with the hybrid meeting, the scientists in Jena met for a local dinner for in-person networking and direct scientific exchange.
