From June 3rd to 7th, 2024, the Lorentz Center in Leiden hosted the "Photonics in Flatland: Empowering Nanophotonics with 2D Semiconductors" summer school. Co-organized by our speaker Dr. Isabelle Staude and supported by members of our research training group, this event provided a valuable opportunity for focused training for young researchers in the interdisciplinary field of nanophotonics with 2D semiconductors.
The workshop centered around five key themes:
- Active/Dynamic Nano-Optoelectronic Devices
- Heterostructure Engineering and Optoelectronics
- Interfacing Spin-Valleytronics with Nanophotonics
- Quantum Nanophotonics with 2D Materials
- Theoretical Foundations and Hybrid Systems
Our members were actively involved, both as trainers and learners, participating in sessions, discussions, and collaborative activities. This event allowed us to share our expertise not only with our students but also with other participants, fostering a rich exchange of knowledge and ideas.
We are proud to have contributed to this successful workshop, enhancing the skills and understanding of emerging researchers and building a strong foundation for future collaborations in 2D semiconductor photonic technologies.
