Meta-Active @Long Night of Science

We are excited to share that IRTG Meta-Active, in collaboration with the CRC NOA, will be participating in this year’s Long Night of Sciences in Jena on November 22, 2024! This event, open to the public, provides a fantastic opportunity to explore the world of light and nanotechnology through engaging, interactive activities for all ages.

Under the theme "Light Games in the Nano Realm," visitors will experience how light can be manipulated and controlled in creative ways. Besides Laser maze and Laser Chess, we prepare a RGB Laser Challenge, where lasers have to be aligned using dichromatic mirrors. For the younger audience we offer to build meta-surfaces from building bricks. We are particularly looking forward to preparing the holographic chocolate that will be distributed during the evening, a visual and tasty treat that showcases the interplay of light and matter.

In addition to these activities, you'll have the chance to learn more about our research at IRTG Meta-Active and CRC NOA. Our scientists will be available to answer questions and share insights into their work on optics and nano-optics.
